So What Happened ?

So here's what happened on 21st Feb 2009

We had a great evening
with great company
and raised

£2350 for Sail4Cancer

155 sailors from the North East attended the North East Sailing Charity Ball in Newcastle, organised by the Ladies at TridentUK.com, and had a lovely evening of dancing and money raising, wining and dining.

There were lots of games played, the hula hoop table challenge probably being the biggest spectacle of the night, with a lot of gyrating hips on the dance floor, except for Sunderland Yacht Club who had a very cunning plan to keep the Hula Hoop up. - see the photos -

Dave Shilling assisted by Josh Gebhard - provided a very busy photo studio, taking lots of photos of the guests in all their wonderful dresses, while the Team TridentUk Ladies worked hard with their bowls and buckets collecting monies

The programme was full of entertainment, and the raffle/auction provided a lot of fun, resulting in some lovely prizes provided by the generous sponsors, being won by some very happy guests and raised a lot of money.

The final dance involved a Limbo Competition across the floor to great amusement of partakers and onlookers and brought to an end a very entertaining evening.

Organisers Jackie & Jaemi Gebhard from TridentUK - said they were absolutely delighted with the successful evening, and the monies raised, and would like to say a big thank you once again to everybody who was involved.

They raised £2350 for Sail4Cancer –

Will there be a North East Charity Ball in 2010 ? – probably yes – and it is hoped all the Sailing Clubs in the region will come and support the event.

“A great night – it should be an annual event – just more of the same”

“ It was just right – formal and dressy but great fun”

“How long did it take to walk across the room see loads of people from different clubs that I haven’t seen for ages”

“That’s what a dinner dance should be about”

“Thanks again for organising such a great night - best ball we've been to!”

“ What a brilliant night”

“What a great idea getting everyone together and for such a worthwhile charity”

“Just a quick note to thank you all for such a super evening - everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves”

What It Was All About

We, the Ladies from Trident UK, having been to the 24hr race at Southport, were introduced to the Charity - Sail4Cancer.

We thought the ideas and aims and objectives of the Charity were very close to our hearts having had many family members and friends who have had cancer, some fatally. But then to involve sailing as a way of raising money for research in the disease and allowing those with cancer and their families the opportunity to try the great sport we all enjoy was a Charity we would like to support.

So,

we decided to party - we reckon we, ie North East Sailors, are all quite good at this! and would organise a North East Sailing Charity Ball for Sail4Cancer

And it was a great night
